The prequel to the original Dune tells the story of how Roszak’s sister evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The story, voiced by Valya Harkonnen, is called “Mentats of Dune.” All three books relate the development of the Brotherhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Bitch Doctors. I knew it couldn’t be on par with the quality of the movies, but I didn’t expect it to be this mediocre.

There’s no depth, and at times the dialogue is just too cheesy

For a second I thought it was an Amazon production and not an HBO one. For some of the roles, this isn’t the right casting choice; the actors aren’t bad, but they’re just not right for the character. The first episode is overworked, jumping from scene to scene like it’s rushed.

I really hope it gets better

Some of the scenes make me wonder why they even bothered filming them. There are no real special effects, and the budget is a bit low to me. I’m not sure what camera they used, but the scenes look very simple.
