It’s no secret that modern domestic animation is going through not the best times. Good projects can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and then most of them are aimed at a very younger audience. In the domestic animation market, there is a complete dominance of “luntik” and “Masha and the bears”, so the teenage and adult audience completely switches to foreign projects. In my modest opinion, the oldest generation reigns in domestic animation, fully convinced that cartoons should only be done for children. And the “cartoons” themselves should be as fanned as possible so that God forbid, the children do not have too many questions, and their fragile children’s psyche was not put under attack. Therefore, when you hear about the domestic animated series dedicated to the video, you expect a project during which the morality of “Video games – evil will be posted in large letters. Go better walk on the street, drink the ball “. But even if the authors are as loyal to the games, then they are still a complete misunderstanding of how they work and the complete ignorance of the terms and concepts that the authors will try to insert here and here so that the animated series looks as “in gaming” will cause only large Spanish shame and rejection to their product.

What a pleasant surprise to me were the “Heroes of Envell”, you can’t even imagine.

This animated project is engaged in the Atimation Studio “steam locomotive”, which, in my modest opinion, is one of the best, and the most important very promising domestic studio. But unlike the terribly dull “Luntika” and the “Masha” rushing into the tartarara, the series breathed a new freshness into this “genre” and caused delighted in children. Here the same morality has already begun to ask. Therefore, I ignored this series and returned to it only after a while. The first episode, in my modest opinion, is the weakest in the series. And now a certain time has passed, “Disney” goes on TV and suddenly begin to show “Heroes of Envell”. Of course, I was surprised, at Disney, a show of domestic animation, especially non -classical – is very rare. But recalling the past experience, I then plunged into the leaflet of the tape and especially did not pay attention to the animated series. In addition, they showed a series that was already in the middle of the season and much, of course, I no longer understood. And now I leaf through the tape and hear the familiar motives to my ear, wound up to the holes of the trailer of one famous shooter:

The character, apparently the teacher, plays White Stripes?! Seriously?! It was this moment that was the same “hook”, a hook that pressed all my attention to the TV. Of course, this was already the end of the episode, but the next followed it. After watching, I decided on an unprecedented step: I opened YouTube, where all the episodes of the animated series on the Internet were published and decided to watch all the series of this animated series for the whole day (which by that time was already ending and the last series remained). Yes, I am an adult, confident guy, I have all the rights to spend my time watching a children’s cartoon.

And I liked the animated series! Yes, it is not intricate, of course it was not intended for a more adult audience, but it is good. Starting with the fact that the domestic cartoon itself is fully impregnated with references to completely different video games: from the banal “Mario” to the “Detroid” that only released at that time, ending with an adequate speech of characters, similar to the real conversation of ordinary teenagers now, fond of games, fond of games. All concepts and terms to the place, and all this does not cause Spanish shame. The main characters are not voiced by forty -year -old actresses of voice actresses, but real teenagers who most likely understand what they are talking about (and what is characteristic perfectly playing out, despite the sick theme of the acting of young actors).

In the series, a lot of time is devoted to the mechanics of the video game, for the most part MMORPG. Grinds are enlightened in it, as a mechanic, and the principle of work of the girl, and much more, is explained. Video games here are not shown by some incomprehensible mixing with incomprehensible terms. Here the game is close to real, and this is much more believed.

Animation is not bad, “Middle”, as well as the “steam locomotive” in general. This is not to say that it shocks with its beauty, but it does not make blood flow out of the eyes, like the studio “100 kilowatts” (oh, how I hate their animation, honestly). One of the main places of action is St. Petersburg (for some time not Moscow), good, cute and comfortably drawn and makes the viewer believe that the action takes place in the cultural capital. Envella’s world itself – looks like typical fantasy, and is also drawn at a certain, good level.

Well, the humor is good in the series. Yes, it is worth doing a remark for myself that this is not an adult series, but from some jokes I shouted literally in a voice.

As I said earlier, the animated series is simple. The plot is typical and simple as two pennies, and in some points the series really gets in stamps and cliches. Well, what did you want, this is still a domestic children’s animated series. Therefore, it is not worth expecting something really cool from the plot, “steam locomotives” to the same Gravity Falls (which was even mentioned in the series) still grow and grow. A group of four teenagers (Art, Kira, Phil and Vic) accidentally find a laptop with the fantasy MMORPG unknown to the children. But instead of a typical Korean Grindel, the guys are sucking into a laptop, where they actually fall into the same “Envell”, a game that spits on all your VR and gives absolutely complete immersion, allowing even to preserve artifacts and weapons in the real world. Having completed training and getting out of the game, the guys were ready to send her away and give the laptop to his teacher Marya Stepanovna, but something went wrong, the teacher became the fifth player in the game, where she immediately kills and imprisones this boss of this Swearing Games, Morgart (murder in this game is freezing for a few seconds, but something went wrong, and in the end the players are in the frost forever). As a result, taking with him the next teacher of geography, who was replaced (yes, the very one that White Stripes played), the guys go to save Marya Stepanovna, faced with problems caused by both game mechanics and typical teenage problems. As a result, everything ends with a relative, but with a very ordinary happy end, the team defeated Morgart, who had chosen from a laptop and not allowing all Petersburgers into a zombie and imprisoned it in a quest, from which he could not get out. The teacher, by the way, was still not saved and did not know anything about the game.

Phil (Philip Chernykh) – a magician, the same type of character that will enrage you throughout the series. ChSV, cunning, greedy. Streamer.
Vic (Victor Schmenkin) – engineer, typical botan and nerd. Nevertheless, over time, builds his relationship with NPC and gains his wifa. Alas, not for long (she is killed, which is very rare for the animated series 6+).

Since this game is five slots, the fifths are teachers who play on the roles of bards. There is nothing to say about them, except that the second, Elena Viktorovna at the end turns out to be a spy and a traitor with her backstory.

As we already understood, the main characters are not the strength of the series, but there are two characters in it who can deliver a smile to the adult viewer, namely Bakquit and Father Arta.

Babquis is an assistant and essentially an interface that accompanies players. Often takes on the role of reference, introducing himself to the players in the images of famous game characters. Nevertheless, he is a reference in itself, being voiced by none other than Boris Reopetur himself – the voice of many zero games.

Well, the father of Arta is my favorite character, which is the whole retro -gaming. The poor father, trying to join the company of his son, recalling how he played at the same time in the third heroes, Kveik or casting and being not understood by his son, he quickly conquered my heart.

What can be summed up in the end? Of course, the heroes of Enwell are not a couple with popular foreign animals. But the series cannot be called bad. Yes, his plot and characters are simple, but nevertheless they cannot be called bad, because in the series there are no noticeable plot holes, nonsense and inconsistencies. Outwardly, it also looks pretty, and references, humor and good disclosure of the topic of video games can please a person associated with a game theme. If you wanted to see something unnecessary and short-lived in the last days of quarantine, then it is quite possible that the series is suitable for you. You will not experience bad emotions, but the series is quite good to give you good emotions. Well, I am personally pleased that in the domestic mass culture and in children’s animation in particular, something at least incentive and not bad on the theme of the video game came out. I really hope that over time, for the whole society, the game will cease to be the evil that they are painted for us now. Someday we will live up to this point.
